Armordon® tapes are produced using specialised co-extrusion technology.
Each individual co-extruded tape consists of a high melting point polymer core, surrounded by a lower melting point copolymer “cap” coat. Co-extrusion technology ensures strong affinity between the two components of the tape, and results in a tape with a flexible range of properties. The tapes can be utilised either themselves in pipe winding or filament laying. Alternatively, they can be woven into a fabric.
Subsequent thermal processing of either tapes or fabric, melts the “cap” coat of the filament and allows fusion between individual tapes, either independently or within single ply fabric, or between multiple layers of the material.
