Armordon® woven fabric is produced using Armordon® co-extruded tapes.
Each individual co-extruded tape consists of a high melting point polymer core, surrounded by a lower melting point copolymer “cap” coat.
Armordon® fabric utilises the technology of the co-extruded tape within fabric. In this way, the technology does not rely on resin impregnation, but on the welding of flat tapes. Thermal consolidation, usually under pressure, of the fabric melts the “cap” coat of the individual tapes and fuses the tapes together within the weave of the material. The higher melting point core remains unaffected during the process, and retains excellent properties.
